Thursday, June 21st- Our best friends, Braden and Lyndsey Hansen, and their daughter, Elle, drove down to St. George for the weekend to visit Braden's family that lives here. Which means that we get to see them and spend time with them! Hooray! On Thursday night we ordered pizza and just spent the entire night talking and playing board games. We love this sweet little family and love spending time with them!
June 22-28 -Dal and I watched his cousin's the Baker's, while their parents, TeriLyn and Jared went to Omaha, NE with their oldest son, Braden for his baseball tournament. We watched Breanna (14), Bryson (8), and Brinley (6). We had a great time watching them, but it was also a good learning experience for us. I had to work full time and take care of 3 kids, so I went to work every day and then came home to make sure the kids did their chores and practiced piano, then made dinner, then ran the kids to all sorts of practices, friends, etc. We dealt with sick kids waking us up at night, kids not liking/eating dinner, not doing their chores, lots of laughs and fun, lots of singing to sweet songs in the car, movie nights, and I learned a lot about Sharpay (from High School Musical). haha WHEW! I totally admire TeriLyn and All other mothers out there! (Like my sweet and awesome mother who took care of 7 kids!) It was a really fun and hard experience for us. We love our sweet cousins! (And Braden's team got 2nd place at the tournament in Omaha, and Jared and TeriLyn brought us home some awesome t-shirts.)
The night of the 28th, Dal and I went to Hairspray, the musical, at
Tuacahn. It was SO GOOD!! We loved it! It took a lot of convincing for
him to take me, he thought it would be really dumb and girly, but it
wasn't and he was glad that we went; it was really funny and we both
loved it.
On Saturday, June 30th, we drove the 4 hour drive to Provo and spent the entire day with Braden, Lyndsey and Elle Hansen. (For those of you who don't know, Braden and Dallin served their missions together in Philadelphia, and Lyndsey is his sweet wife and has become and is one of my best friends and I absolutely adore her, and their daughter Elle is 7 months old and is the most precious little girl. We absolutely love the Hansen's and love spending time with them. There is always a lot of talking and laughing involved with our get-togethers!)
Borrowed this cute pic from Lyndsey's facebook page.
Anways, we started out with lunch at Olive Garden, then we drove to Park City and spent the afternoon there. We watched the movie, "People Like Us," which I thought was a little slow, and a little awkward at times, but had a good message and turned out to be a great movie in the end. Then we took turns watching Elle and going down the Alpine Slide. I love the Alpine Slide, in high school the drill team used to go to Park City for our summer camp and we would always take a day to do the Alpine Slide. So it brought back a lot of fun memories! I haven't been there since my Sophomore year of high school, and this was Dal's first time at the slide, it was a lot of fun. Dal and I raced each other down the slide, a little side note, the lady worker at the top of the slide scared the crap out of Dallin by warning us to use our breaks, that you can die on the slide, me on the other hand, I heard you won't die, but you should be cautious and use your breaks as needed. haha So with those very different thoughts in our heads I rushed down the slide, and Dal, well, he took a little more caution and took his sweet time. In the end, I won the race, we both very much enjoyed it, both made it down safely and I almost peed my pants laughing at his little squeals the entire way down!! After Park City we went to Heber and ate dinner at the famous Dairy Keen. (Fun fact, the Dairy Keen has both gluten-free and vegetarian food options) So I enjoyed a delicious GF grilled cheese and Dal enjoyed a Veggie burger.
We enjoyed our day with the Hansen's and can't wait for the next time we get to see them!
After spending the day with the Hansen's we drove to Lehi to stay with Kellen and Desirae at their home. Dal's parents stayed there that night as well. We helped prepare food for Berklee's baby blessing the next day.
On Sunday, July 1st, we attended Berklee's baby blessing. She is such a pretty little baby, we are so happy for their family addition! This makes for 2 nieces and 4 nephews on Dal's side and 1 niece and 7 nephews on my side.
Monday, July 2nd- it was one of the best days, my mom and dad picked up my sister Sarah and her 3 boys from the airport in Vegas and they stopped at our place on their way back to Milford. I haven't seen my older sister Sarah and her 2 oldest boys in a year and a half, and I have never met her youngest son, who will be turning 1 next month! So you can imagine mine and Dal's excitement when they pulled into our parking lot, i was so exciting waiting for them to come I almost peed my pants! We ate pizza and swam in our pool. It was the best feeling to finally see them!
Sisters!!
We can't wait to see them again in 2 weeks and get to spend more time with them!!
July 3rd- Opening Day of The Amazing Spider-Man!! Dal and I went to the theater and watched The Amazing Spider-Man and it was Amazing! (haha) We love our super hero movies and this one didn't let us down. We recommend for everyone to see it, love the actors and the action, etc. Can't wait for Batman 3 at the end of the month!
4th of July!!
Because of our work schedules we weren't able to go anywhere for the 4th, so we spent it by ourselves. We didn't really do much during the day, Dal had to work all day, but that night we watched the concert and fireworks put on by the city. The band was South of Graceland, I have never heard of them before, but they were really good and we had a great time singing along to the songs performed and the fireworks were awesome! We are used to small town fireworks and they only last a few minutes, so we were blown away by St. George's firework show. It was totally awesome and it's always fun to cuddle up to your honey during the fireworks!
Happy Birthday America!
This past Friday and Saturday, Rach came to visit and hang out with me while Dal worked all weekend. We worked out, went to the pool, watched a chick flick and went shopping. (haha this is kinda turning in to our usual hang outs, which is really fun!) It's always fun to have family come visit, thanks for visiting sis, love ya!
And as for today- I have been in the Nursery for the past few months and I absolutely love the children in there, but with our last ward in Ephraim and our ward here, I have been in the Nursery for the past year. The Primary President called me last week and told me that she was putting me as a teacher for the Valiant 9 class. The previous teacher left for a month to Montana and took the lesson book, schedule, class list, etc for this class. So last night I had a little melt down. I haven't been in primary since I was a child and in primary myself, I have no clue where my classroom is, who the kids are, or anything like that and I just felt completely inadequate to teach these children. I know that the Lord never gives us anything that we cannot handle, but I needed a little confidence and help before I taught my new class on Sunday. Dal gave me the sweetest blessing last night and as I woke up this morning to review my lesson I felt calm and confident that I would be able to give a great lesson for these 9 year olds. I am so grateful for the Priesthood and that I have it in my home. The lesson went really well, I was able to learn and memorize all of the children's names in my class and... I even remembered all of the primary songs! How bout that! The Lord truly does bless us and I am so grateful for this calling and that I will get to learn from these children. This calling is going to take a lot of praying and a lot of scripture study, and who can go wrong with that?! I am sad to leave the Nursery, but with our current no baby situation, was struggling a little bit with being around those sweet little children every week. I have been praying that Heavenly Father would strengthen me and help me get through it and that he would give me a different calling and my prayers were answered by me now being with the Valiant 9's! I feel like Heavenly Father constantly is blessing Dal and I and we are so very grateful that he truly does answer prayers, just in His timing! :)
Sounds like you guys have had a busy and fun few weeks!!! I'm sure you are an awesome teacher, those kids are lucky to have you. And I can't wait until it's us that gets to see you!!
